Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Superintendent

Overview

Reporting to the Tiris Ressources General Manager Operations and working closely with Aura Energy’s Chief HSSE Officer, you will lead HSE and radiation protection across Tiris Ressources’ activities – implementing the HSE management system and the Safety and Radiation Management Plans, training the workforce, monitoring exposures, managing risks, incidents and emergency preparedness, and acting as the Radiation Safety Officer.

  • Radiation protection and the Radiation Safety Officer function
  • Monitoring, risk and incident management
  • Emergency preparedness and occupational health
  • Contractor, stakeholder and regulatory interface

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in safety, environmental science or a related discipline
  • Minimum 8 years’ HSE experience in mining, construction or industrial operations, including 5 years at a supervisory level
  • Demonstrated radiation-protection experience (uranium, NORM, oil and gas, medical or industrial radiography) and formal radiation-protection training, certified or eligible for certification in Mauritania
  • Experience implementing HSE management systems, incident investigation, permit-to-work and emergency response
  • Working knowledge of Mauritanian safety, environmental and radiation legislation
  • A confident trainer and communicator, credible with crews, contractors, the international team and the authorities
  • Fluent in French; working proficiency in English
  • A strong personal commitment to safety and radiation protection – a leader who sets the standard and is prepared to stop work – and medically fit for a remote Saharan site environment
